First blog post
Hey! I am a first year information processing student in university of Oulu. I have always been interested in tinkering with electronics from a young age. Most of my knowledge is from a hardware side. I have set up some wifi routers and some coding in C language that is the extend of my software side. My reason for studying information processing is to learn the software side of things and the social and networking side of the major. I actually studied automation engineering for a year before switching to information processing. The reason for switching was information processing providing a vastly broader scale for work options in addition the focus is on human perspective and user-centricity instead of specializing in automation. I am expecting this switch of career to bring its fair share of challenges and hurdles. But I will not be let down facing some hardships!
I have never had a personal blog. Personally I think that blogging is a great way to show your personal growth regarding your topic. It helps to build confidence and at the same time improves writing skills. I think that the most beneficial part of blogging is networking with like minded people and also establishing yourself and your interest in learning useful skills. Since I don’t have a lot of experience in software develoment, getting in touch with people that have more experience would be greatly appreciated. I am not expecting some miracle to happen and build a large following. I wish to find people like me who have just started their journey towards working in information prosessing. I don’t have any expectations for this blog as of now, but my opinion might change in the future.
My English learning goal is quite broad. I want to learn the vocabulary needed to talk fluently regarding subjects of information processing and be able to converse using them without being unsure if the word or term I used is correct. I would say my basic knowledge of English is quite broad. Where I lack is actually using the vocabulary that I have accumulated over the years. So, in addition to learning new vocabulary regarding information processing, I want to be able to use the vocabulary I already know in conjuction with my new learning goal. Of course, this goal is quite ambitious to accomplish, it is my target in the long run. Now I just want improve as much as possible and share my improvement in this blog.
Switching majors seems like a big leap of faith but doing it despite the challenges is a brave move. I think your knowledge on the hardware side of things will still help you even in the software side of things as they are linked together in the end. I wish you good luck on your journey through information processing studies.
